Disaster Victim Assistance (related to education)

At Hachinohe City public elementary schools and middle schools, we are providing aid for part of the expenses for school-provided lunches and school supplies for families that find paying school expenses difficult due to economic reasons.

From April 2011 to March 2012, we will have special provisions for those that have been affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake.

Schools and the Public Education Section (Gakko Kyoiku Ka) of the Hachinohe City Office will accept inquiries about the assistance system.
Please send your application to the school your child attends.
All necessary documents can be found at each school.

Have an address within city limits, are a parental guardian of a child attending a Hachinohe City Public Elementary School or Middle School, and due to economic reasons have difficulties paying school expenses

Those who fit the descriptions below and have difficulties paying school expenses

• If you were affected by the disaster (more than half of your home is destroyed) and live within city limits
• If you are evacuating from  areas applicable to the Disaster Relief Act (excluding those who are having difficulties returning to their home in Tokyo )
• The person who provides the major source of income for the household has been recognized as either dead or missing due to the disaster.

If you fit the above descriptions and are considered eligible for provision, then we will not ask your income amount

The expenses covered through special provision are the same as the regular assistance system.

1. Expenses for school-provided lunches
2. Expenses for school supplies and non-educational materials necessary for students
3. Expenses for extra-curricular activities
4. Expenses for school trips
5. Expenses for new students enrolling in and non-educational materials necessary for students
6. Medical expenses (Illnesses recognized through the Order for Enforcement of the School Health Safety Act  (school illnesses))
7. Commuting expenses (For elementary schools 4km one way, for middle schools over 6km one way)
